Communication Concern

Image-form

Form Workplace Solutions Ltd is a design and office fit-out company that delivers projects across London, Home Counties and the wider South East. As with many organisations operating in a competitive marketplace, a significant proportion of their work is won or lost through formal pitch presentations.

Alex Ryan, Business Development Manager, recognised two key challenges that were affecting the team’s performance during these high-stakes opportunities.

On an individual level, confidence was an issue. Presenting in front of large groups felt daunting for several members of the team, particularly Alex herself, who described public speaking as a long-standing personal challenge.

As a team, they also felt they lacked cohesion when presenting together. Roles and responsibilities were not always clearly defined, leading to overlap, uncertainty and a less polished delivery. They wanted to create a stronger narrative, improve their storytelling and ensure that every presentation left a lasting impression.

Form Workplace had explored several training providers but had yet to find an approach that felt practical, relevant and engaging. After seeing positive feedback on LinkedIn, Alex attended a Partners With You Presentation Club session. Experiencing the supportive and highly practical approach first-hand gave her immediate confidence in the methodology. She returned to the business enthusiastic about the experience and recommended Partners With You without hesitation. The decision to proceed was quickly agreed.

Solution

Sally, MD at Partners With You, designed a bespoke presentation skills programme for the three team members who regularly represented the business during client pitches. The programme was delivered over three focused sessions:

Session 1: Building confidence and feeling comfortable in your own skin

Session 2: Storytelling, structuring content and presenting to a room

Session 3: Memory techniques and presenting on camera

Each session combined practical exercises with presentation practice, allowing participants to apply new techniques immediately in a safe but stretching environment.

The training was carefully tailored to address both individual confidence and team effectiveness. Alongside developing presentation skills, the programme helped the team clarify their roles, strengthen collaboration and create a more consistent approach to pitching.

Result

The impact of the training was both immediate and measurable.

Shortly after completing the programme, the team delivered a presentation as part of a competitive tender process. Having progressed through several rounds against multiple competitors, they reached the final two organisations.

They won the contract! A project valued at approximately £250,000.

The team identified several areas where the training had made a significant difference:

  • Presentations felt more natural, confident and enjoyable to deliver.
  • Clearly defined roles improved flow and reduced duplication.
  • Storytelling techniques increased audience engagement.
  • A shared approach and common language strengthened teamwork.

On an individual level, participants reported increased confidence and greater self-awareness.

For Alex, one of the most valuable moments came from reviewing a recorded presentation. Seeing herself objectively helped challenge some overly critical perceptions and led to a significant shift in confidence and mindset.

The team described the training as practical, engaging and highly relevant to their day-to-day work. And while the sessions pushed participants outside their comfort zones, they felt supported throughout the process. The balance of challenge and encouragement created an environment where genuine progress could be made quickly.

The learning continues to influence how the team works today.

The group has developed a shared language around presenting, enabling them to give each other constructive feedback in a supportive and objective way.

Rather than being something that was completed and forgotten, the techniques and tools have become embedded in their everyday practice, both individually and as a team.

Reflecting afterwards Alex said, “We all came out of the presentation thinking it felt easier and better. And when we won the work, we genuinely felt the training had played a big part. It’s already paid for itself.”

And would they recommend Partners With You? “Absolutely! And we’d like to run some refresher sessions in the future to build on the progress we’ve made”.

Well, Alex, we’re ready when you are!
